A Patient-friendly and comprehensive approach to cancer treatment.

The word "cancer" arouses great anxiety in many people. However, we know that today, thanks to scientific advances, cancers can be cured or held in abeyance for long periods of time. Today's sophisticated technologies offer patients more treatment options than ever before. People who need cancer care look for access to the newest, most advanced diagnostic and treatment options available, with caring physicians to provide these services. They depend on the comfort of familiar surroundings and the emotional support of friends and loved ones. Ravenel Oncology Center of Memorial Hospital is able to provide these benefits to our patients.

Ravenel Oncology Center's services include:

  • diagnosis
  • radiation therapy
  • chemotherapy
  • surgery
  • clinical evaluation
  • therapeutic decision making
  • support services such as counseling, support groups and hospice care

As comfort and convenience for our patients is paramount, Ravenel Oncology Center was constructed adjacent to the back of the Hospital. Ample parking next to the center's entrance enables patients and visitors to enter and leave easily.

Ravenel Oncology Center is attractive and inviting, with comfortable waiting areas, private dressing and treatment rooms, and consultation rooms where patients and family members can meet with their physician, nurse, dietitian, social worker, or other staff.

From the time you enter our comprehensive unit, physicians who specialize in all forms of cancer treatment, along with a staff of expert health care professionals, will work together as a team to carry out a treatment program designed especially for you.

This staff will:

  • Create an environment that is respectful and caring
  • Encourage patients to become partners in the determination and delivery of their own care
  • Educate patients to take a proactive responsibility for their own health

Collaboration of Professionals.  To help coordinate our efforts in determining individual treatment plans, Memorial Hospital physicians - including medical oncologists, surgeons and others, participate in a joint tumor board where cases are presented for evaluation and learning. These discussions offer education and guidance for those addressing the challenges of cancer treatment.
